Re-Storyation Labyrinth: Social Forestry + Community Art Installation

Activation No. 1 of ReVillage's – Museum of the Future: Community Art Pop-Up Series

A three circuit Labyrinth will be created in the Graton Town Square made of timber rounds and poles harvested during forestry restoration work at a local property within the Green Valley watershed.

Community will be invited to join for all parts of this project, connecting origin of materials to the art that they become. There will be two days of forestry harvest (July 21-22) and two town square installation days (June 24-25), with a final unveiling party on July 26 - before the Summer BBQ and Lawn Chair Cinema evening at the Graton Town Square.

RSVP here for full event details, community participation opportunities, and more.

This project is multi-purpose. The purpose of the labyrinth is to offer an anchor point and a refuge for finding grounding, peace, harmony, and centeredness. The material chosen is timber needing to be removed from a very untended, wildfire-risk forest.

The concept of Social Forestry is an undercurrent theme here, tied to the understanding that Restoration work is a Re-storyation of relationship to place - physical, social, & spiritual - which opens up the opportunity to heal breaks and envision new stories of the future connected to the past.
